The community nominates.
Neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, students, and customers tell us about people who consistently go above and beyond.
Helping the Hardworking celebrates people whose dedication too often goes unnoticed while directing support back into the local businesses that make our communities special.
Our mission
The model is simple: listen to the community, recognize people who work hard without seeking attention, and use the moment to support local businesses too.
Neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, students, and customers tell us about people who consistently go above and beyond.
Funds are used to purchase gift cards, meals, and treats from local businesses so community support stays local.
Selected nominees are surprised with meaningful recognition designed to say something simple and powerful: we see you.
Two communities. One purpose.
Helping the Hardworking began in Frankfort, Kentucky and is now carrying the same community-centered mission to The Ohio State University.

Frankfort, Kentucky
The Frankfort chapter recognizes nominated hard workers, purchases gift cards from local businesses, and creates pop-up moments of appreciation throughout the community.

The Ohio State University
The student-led Ohio State chapter focuses on campus employees and community members whose hard work often goes unnoticed, pairing recognition with support for local businesses.
A look at the beginning
In 2023, the early Frankfort effort exceeded its original goal and turned community donations into direct recognition and local spending.
“The love, hugs and tears of joy I have received from recipients remind me that true joy comes to me when helping others.”— Ellie Katherine B.
